Our client, Yamazaki Mazak, is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market‑leading machine tool manufacturer that has been at the forefront of the industry for many years.

We are looking for a Shipping Supervisor to ensure machines are prepared to the highest standards and shipped safely, efficiently, and on time, while meeting quality, cost, and customer requirements.

This role involves hands‑on leadership, cross‑functional communication, and continuous improvement of shipping processes.

Job Description
  • Lead and supervise the Shipping Team in preparing machines for dispatch :
    Team of 20
  • Coordinate and arrange trailers and loading schedules for outgoing machines
  • Answer CSIRs, ensuring timely investigation and resolution
  • Create, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all shipping activities
  • Train, develop, and coach shipping staff to ensure consistent standards and compliance
  • Complete and manage the W21 plan, ensuring targets and actions are met
  • Control and manage the shipping budget, including packing costs and shipping consumables
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide regular feedback to team members
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance
  • Ensure all shipping activities comply with health, safety, and company standards
Essential Criteria
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team-leading role, ideally within manufacturing, logistics, shipping, or dispatch
  • Strong understanding of machine preparation, packaging, or heavy equipment shipping (or willingness to learn quickly)
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and plan shipping activities
  • Experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. production, ICS, transport providers)
  • Ability to create and follow structured processes, including SOPs and work instructions
  • Comfortable managing budgets and controlling costs
  • Confident using systems, reports, and plans (e.g. W21 or similar performance tools)
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
