Post

Strategic Lead for Place Salary £32,750 – £34,950; full‑time, fixed contract until end of March 2028, with possible extension subject to external funding. Reporting to Deputy CEO. Agile working policy in place subject to the needs of the business.

Location

Based out of the University of Worcester, Hines Building, Henwick Grove, Worcester, WR2 6AJ
. Expectation to be present in identified priority communities.

Role Overview

You will lead our place‑based work across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, with the aim of getting more people active in the places and communities that need it most. This collaborative role thrives when building and maintaining relationships with communities, statutory organisations (for example local authorities and health partners), providers and voluntary organisations, collectively working towards a shared goal.

Key Elements of the Role

1. Focusing on communities facing the greatest inequalities, including rural and areas of deprivation across both counties, as part of a small team of strategic leaders.
2. Through this focused work, you will capture and share learning to encourage more place‑based working across both counties.

Responsibilities

You will build a picture of how statutory organisations and the community infrastructure do and can connect, finding opportunities where those connections can make a real difference to people’s lives. You will be able to see the bigger picture, join the dots with existing and new partnerships, networks and accessible resources, and link with internal work areas and priorities.

This is not a delivery role. You will not be running sessions or managing facilities. The role is to facilitate, convene and connect, working alongside communities and partners so that they shape what happens in their place.

This role is funded through Sport England’s Place Universal Offer and sits at the heart of our three‑year strategy.
