We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic midwife to join our Delivery Suite Team and undertake the Delivery Suite Coordinator role at Worcester Royal Hospital. This is a permanent position covering a 24/7 service. As a Delivery Suite Coordinator, you will work in partnership with other Band 7 coordinators, ward managers, matrons, and obstetric colleagues to ensure an excellent standard of care is provided to women and their families.
You will be located on Delivery Suite and Triage providing clinical care and leadership guidance, support and advice to other members of the team over a 24 hour period, and act as the unit coordinator ensuring patient flow and adequate staffing provision and support.
Our ideal candidate will have a wide range of clinical skills and be keen to take part in the leadership of the unit. You will work collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team and strive to improve the quality of our services.
Applications are welcomed from experienced Band 6 and Band 7 midwives, who have a strong commitment to midwifery practice and have current experience of labour care and an understanding of both low and high risk antenatal pathways.
Job responsibilities- Coordinate Delivery Suite and Maternity Triage, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Facilitate innovative and evidence-based midwifery practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.
- Act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop personally and professionally.
- Maintain awareness of the condition of all Delivery Suite patients and high risk patients on the Antenatal and Postnatal ward.
- Participate in medical staff handovers and consultant ward rounds.
- Assist in managing workload, skill mix, staffing levels, and bed availability.
- Prioritise workload under changing service requirements and remain calm under pressure, especially when acting as the Unit Coordinator.
- Engage in professional development and quality improvement, support student learning, and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Proven organisational and management skills.
- Advanced midwifery competencies such as perineal suturing, topping up epidurals, IV cannulation, IV administration, venepuncture, CTG interpretation and intermittent auscultation. Excellent IT skills.
- Ability to work flexibly on your own or as part of the team. Demonstrates an organised approach to work and ability to prioritise or delegate.
- Work well under pressure and in stressful situations.
- Excellent communication skills, including sensitive conversations with staff, service users and visitors.

- Ability to respond following adverse outcomes.
- Flexibility to change shifts in alignment with local business contingency planning and ability to undertake shifts to cover the 24/7 service.
- Knowledge of clinical audit and effectiveness systems.
- Counselling skills.
- Significant midwifery experience since qualification including a minimum of 3 years Band 6 midwifery experience.
- Experience of supporting learning/mentoring in practice.
- Recent Delivery Suite experience.
- Experience of all areas of maternity care.
- Experience of governance and risk management.
- Experience of being involved in change management.
- Registered Midwife with current NMC registration.
- Degree in Midwifery or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Mentorship or Supervisor and Assessor Course and evidence of further and continuous professional development (CPD).
- Newborn Life Support (NLS) course completion.
- Master’s degree or willingness to undertake one.
- NIPE trained.
