The Band 5 Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a busy Emergency Department. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies. The role requires the ability to prioritise workload, respond effectively to rapidly changing clinical situations, and maintain patient safety in a fast-paced environment.
There is a dedicated Professional Development Team that supports the department to become confident, empowered and skilled Emergency Department nurses.
Main duties of the jobProvide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to patients attending the Emergency Department, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for a wide range of acute illnesses, injuries and emergencies. Monitor and assess patients, recognise and respond to deterioration, administer medications and undertake clinical procedures within scope of practice. Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, timely and efficient patient care, maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to Trust policies, professional standards and patient safety requirements.
Support patients and relatives through effective communication, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and participate in ongoing professional development and mandatory training.

Job responsibilitiesUsing your clinical experience and skills you will work with your team as a named nurse to maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of the nursing team.

Person Specification Experience- Accurate recording
- Able to follow Trust and departmental policies and procedures
- Effective communicator both written and verbal
- Ability to use technology as required to the role
- Ability to identify and manage risk
- Experience with an acute care setting
- NMC Registered Nurse PIN
- Previous experience in an acute setting
