Job Title: Social Worker – Permanency

Salary: £33,699 to £41,771 per annum, plus £4,000 annual market forces*

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Wildwood

Role

Worcestershire County Council are looking for skilled, child-focused Social Workers to join the Adoption and Permanency Support Team in Worcestershire.

You will be responsible for supporting Special Guardianship carers where Assessment of Needs are requested, completing comprehensive and holistic assessments, supporting the positive delivery of specialist support, collaborating with partner agencies, social work teams and accessing funding streams where appropriate. You will be supporting SGO families ensuring all holistic needs are met for the children including their needs in respect of maintaining relationships with birth families.

In addition, you will be supporting social workers who are progressing care plans of adoption, assisting with the completion of Child Permanence Reports, case progression with social work teams to ensure timely and best interest decisions for children. Alongside this you will be supported by family support workers to ensure all children have a personalised life story book and letter to help them understand their early experiences in a creative and empathetic way.

You will be part of the ongoing development of maintaining connections support for adoptive parents and their birth families.

You will support the Local Authority in the completion of Subject to Access Record requests in line with statutory requirements, alongside post commencement requests for information from adults who were previously adopted children in Worcestershire.

About You

We’re seeking a passionate, skilled and confident practitioner who:

  • Experience of completing holistic assessments and making and delivering recommendations from reports.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based analysis and recommendations to assist families in decision-making and working towards positive outcomes.
  • Work directly with children, parents and carers to understand their experiences, wishes and feelings.
  • Liaise effectively with families and partner agencies to support safe and timely outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in accordance with statutory requirements and local policy.
  • Contribute to service learning and development as part of a reflective and supportive team environment.
  • Have a strong understanding of special guardianship and adoption orders and processes and how these impact children and families.
  • Work directly with children, young people and their families to achieve positive outcomes.

Experience of SGO work, adoption work, assessment and Court work is highly desirable, but full training and professional support will be provided.
