Position: Attendance, Progress and Achievement Coach (Maternity Cover)

Lakes College is a technical vocational Further Education College delivering education and training to full-time and part-time learners and apprentices to degree level.

ABOUT

THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated and supportive Attendance, Progress and Achievement Coach to play a key role in improving learner attendance, engagement and success.

You will work closely with learners, curriculum teams and support services to remove barriers to learning, track progress, and ensure every learner has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about student success, coaching, and making a meaningful impact in education.

You will play a key part in:

  • Supporting and establishing solutions for learners who find it challenging to sustain regular engagement in learning.
  • Ensuring all learners make expected levels of progress across all aspects of their learning programme.
  • Effectively contribute to the monitoring and tracking of learner progress.
  • Identifying at-risk learners and implement timely interventions
  • Maintaining regular contact with learners, parents/carers and teaching staff
  • Acting as a key point of contact for attendance, behaviour and engagement concerns
  • Supporting work experience and industry placements
  • Supporting learners to overcome barriers to engagement and achievement
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent)
  • Experience directly working with post-16 learners
  • Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate, coach and support individuals
  • Teaching qualification (e.g. Certificate in Education)
  • Counselling qualification

This is a fixed term position up to 30 June 2027 to cover a period of maternity

Qualifications

Minimum Level 2 Maths and English qualification essential

5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4-9) or equivalent essential

A nationally recognised diploma in Counselling following a minimum two years training desirable

Skills Experience

Recent and relevant industry experience in sector essential

Personal Attributes

Demonstrates ability to work under pressure, prioritise and commit to strict deadlines whilst maintaining the quality of output essential

Dedicated essential

Personal Qualities

Work collaboratively and for the good of all essential

Direct experience of working with post 16 students and with students essential
