Job Description for Senior Robotic Systems Technologist:
This role plays a critical part in maintaining safety while advancing advanced technologies. Working within Safety, Security & Safeguards, you will help deliver projects that are unique in the sector, ensuring everyone remains safe while contributing to cleaner energy and reduced waste.
- Work with customers to understand business requirements for robotic‑based solutions and provide innovative designs.
- Design and develop software that meets customer requirements, following UKNNL’s software‑development procedures and ensuring appropriate quality.
- Undertake small and large‑scale trials using proprietary and bespoke robotics hardware and test‑rig equipment.
- Ensure all work is undertaken safely, understanding the specific risks of working with robotics systems, and supervise work on test rigs.
- Ensure software implementations meet CS&IA requirements and follow best practice in cybersecurity.
- Software development experience in C++, Linux & Windows compilers.
- Robotics development skills in KUKA Robot Language (KRL), KUKA Remote Sensor Interface (RSI), Beckhoff PLC programming and data communication engineering.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience working to a formal software‑development lifecycle process.
- Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (including identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks and 5 years of UK residency).
- Good understanding of the Nuclear Industry.
- Understanding of Programmable Electronic Systems (PES) requirements.
