OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function across a portfolio of major infrastructure projects. Working within a collaborative project environment, you will provide engineering leadership from bid stage through to project completion, ensuring engineering excellence, technical assurance, and compliance with client, regulatory, and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the engineering function across multiple projects, ensuring engineering processes, procedures, and governance are consistently implemented.
- Provide engineering assurance throughout design, construction, commissioning, and project handover.
- Undertake the duties of CDM Principal Designer where required.
- Provide technical leadership and advice to project teams, clients, and senior stakeholders.
- Support bids, tenders, and technical submissions, providing engineering input during work-winning activities.
- Line manage Design Managers and engineering teams, supporting performance, development, and succession planning.
- Ensure engineering procedures remain aligned with client requirements, current legislation, industry standards, and best practice.
- Promote innovation, modern engineering techniques, digital technologies, and value engineering throughout project life cycles.
- Maintain the highest standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental performance, challenging poor practice where necessary.
- Drive continuous improvement by embedding lessons learned and promoting best practice across engineering, sustainability, quality, and social value.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key external stakeholders.
- Support the recruitment, mentoring, training, and professional development of engineers at all levels.
- Assist with engineering resource planning and movement of staff across projects to support business needs and career development.
- Represent the business professionally with clients, educational establishments, and industry partners to strengthen its engineering profile.
- Promote collaborative working practices across project teams and stakeholders.
- Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline relevant to infrastructure or construction.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards professional registration is desirable.
- Minimum three years' experience in a similar Engineering Manager role within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor or comparable organisation.
- Strong understanding of engineering design, construction, and project delivery within complex infrastructure environments.
- Experience operating within regulated industries or major infrastructure projects.
- Thorough understanding of CDM Regulations, with experience acting as Principal Designer desirable.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, engineering governance, and client approval processes.
- Familiarity with client engineering standards, gated project processes, and quality management systems.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and team development skills.
- Demonstrable commitment to safety, quality, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
- National Security Vetting Status:
Ability to gain SC Clearance.
