We currently have a great opportunity for dedicated Full Time, Part Time and Bank Support Workers to work with an individual who has a learning Disability and Autism support needs within the Workington area.
We are committed to providing equal opportunities and are currently offering an exciting opportunity for dedicated Autism Support Workers. You will be supporting an individual with a learning disability, autism, and mental health needs who lives independently. This role involves providing comprehensive, wrap-around support, ensuring all aspects of daily life are supported throughout both day and night.

We are looking for positive, compassionate, and proactive individuals to join a dedicated support team for a young gentleman living in his own home. This role is vital in developing life skills, supporting access to the community, and building confidence to help create a safe, fulfilling, and independent life.
About the Person You’ll Be Supporting
He is a young gentleman who lives in his own home and has a vibrant, engaging personality. His sense of humour and warmth really shine when he feels understood and his communication needs are met. He enjoys building strong, trusting relationships with his support team, and the ability to recognise and respond to his communication is a key part of this role.

He requires consistent, reliable support to ensure his needs are met and he feels secure.
Accessing the community is a meaningful and important part of his life. He enjoys exploring new places, walking in the countryside, and trying new activities. Whatever the weather, he loves being outdoors and connecting with nature.
Like many individuals with complex needs, he may at times display behaviours that can be challenging. It’s essential that team members approach these moments with calmness, patience, and positive, person-centred, trauma-informed strategies. These behaviours do not define him; his personality, potential, and quality of life always come first.
If you are emotionally resilient, patient, and motivated to support someone through an important transition — and you believe in empowering people to live life on their own terms — this could be a deeply rewarding opportunity.

What You’ll Need:

• A genuine passion for supporting people to live fulfilling, independent lives

• Patience, empathy, and strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills

• Understanding of autism and Learning Disability

• A person-centred approach that always puts the individual first

• Experience with PBS or a willingness to complete training

• Reliability, consistency, and the ability to work as part of a committed team

• A positive, encouraging, and resilient attitude, especially during challenging days

• A kind, fun, and creative personality with a willingness to get involved in community activities

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build trusting relationships

• A full UK driving licence (essential)

• Experience supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism (desirable)
