Position DetailsCommunity Diagnostic Centre, Workington
Band 3
36 hours per week (shifts 8am‑8pm, 7 days a week, including weekends)
ResponsibilitiesWork as a member of a flexible team, ensuring all out‑patient reception areas are manned at all times. Welcome patients, carers, relatives and visitors into the new Community Diagnostic Centre as the first point of contact. Perform timely validation of patients’ key demographics and information, accurately record appointment outcomes and make return appointments as directed by clinicians. Support patient safety and Trust income.
Qualifications- NVQ 3 or equivalent experience
- ECDL or equivalent
- Patient Administration System Training (Outpatient Booking) – agree to work towards
- Experience in a reception environment, preferably in a health‑related service
- Customer Service experience
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Proficiency with IT systems and Microsoft Office
- Experience in hospital or NHS related service
- Methodical worker
- Concentration and accuracy
- Team working ability
- Capability to work unsupervised
- Good keyboard skills for accurate data capture
- Excellent interpersonal skills for communication with colleagues and others
- Initiative and self‑direction
- Knowledge of NHS computer technology, including PAS system
- Flexibility to work all shifts and cover all areas as required by the department
- Flexibility to work at other sites as required

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The successful candidate will be responsible for DBS costs incurred through salary deduction, as follows:
- Standard Check: £28.00 (salary deduction over 4 months or one‑off payment)
- Enhanced Check: £56.00 (salary deduction over 4 months or one‑off payment)
