Class 1 Shunter Driver

Shunter Driver – Manufacturing & Fulfillment Facility

Supporting the manufacturing & fulfillment facility at Rudie's Kitchen in Doncaster, ensuring smooth stock movements around the whole site, in a hybrid role requiring a professional Class 1 driver and mechanical handling equipment (MHE) operation.

• Maneuver LGVs and trailer units across sites and public road, ensuring safe and efficient shunting.
• Operate a variety of MHE – primarily Reach Trucks within our 10m racked chillers and freezers, as well as counterbalance and ride‑on forklifts.
• Perform accurate stock counts and system transactions to maintain inventory integrity.
• Conduct rigorous quality checks to ensure product specifications are met.
• Prioritise safety, wearing PPE and following site procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, conveyors and assist with waste processing and order packing.
• Achieve defined KPIs and participate in daily review meetings to drive warehouse performance.

• 4 on / 4 off – 2 days, 2 nights
• 5 on / 5 off – 3 days, 2 nights (or 2 days, 3 nights)

• Essential:
  Valid Class 1 (HGV Category C+E) license for shunting duties.
• Essential:
  Genuine willingness to work within a cold‑store warehouse environment and training on various MHE (Reach, Counterbalance, etc.).
• Previous experience with Counterbalance, PPT, or LLOP desirable.
• Confidence using warehouse IT equipment.
• Comfortable working at temperatures as low as –40 °C and outdoor conditions.
• Adaptable to an ever‑changing work environment.
• English language skills – speaking, reading.
• Numerate.
• Willingness to work with raw protein.
