SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Worksop, Nottinghamshire
Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: Grade and salary dependent on experience

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive primary school in Worksop. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work closely with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will work alongside class teachers, the SENDCo, and other support staff to provide high-quality support tailored to the individual needs of pupils.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
Support children with a range of needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, and learning difficulties.
Assist in the delivery of personalised learning programmes and interventions.
Promote pupils’ independence, confidence, and social development.
Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life.
Help to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support strategies.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo, parents, and external agencies.
Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to review meetings where appropriate.
Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting.
A patient, caring, and positive approach to supporting children.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
A good understanding of inclusive practice and supporting diverse learning needs.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification.
Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs.
Knowledge of intervention programmes and adaptive teaching strategies.
