As a Recovery Motivator
, you’ll be a welcoming and consistent presence within our Worksop service, supporting people affected by drug and alcohol use, as well as their families, carers and wider support networks.
You’ll draw on your own lived experience to help people feel understood, connect with the right support and believe that positive change is possible.
This role is designed to support someone taking their first steps into employment with Change Grow Live. You’ll receive training, supervision and ongoing support to develop your confidence, knowledge and skills.
The opportunity
You’ll be a trusted and approachable point of contact within the service and across the local community.
You’ll welcome people without judgement, listen to what matters to them and help them find the services, recovery networks and community resources that can support their next step.
You’ll also work alongside colleagues, partners and peer networks to strengthen community engagement, support service user involvement and help create recovery-focused activities and groups.
This role is about using your experience to help others feel heard, supported and able to move forward.

Location Worksop, Nottinghamshire
Contract Type Fixed term until 20 May 2027
Hours Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Please note Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and any associated payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll
- Welcome and engage with people accessing the service.
- Support individuals and families to identify their goals and find the right support.
- Build links with mutual aid, peer-support and local community groups.
- Help plan and facilitate recovery and wellbeing activities.
- Reach people who may feel isolated or disconnected from mainstream services.
- Promote service user involvement and peer-led opportunities.
- Record information accurately and contribute to meetings, training and supervision.
- Represent Change Grow Live positively across the Worksop community.
About You
You don’t need to have worked as a Recovery Motivator before.
What matters is your lived experience, motivation and ability to connect with people in an authentic and respectful way.
You’ll
- Passionate about recovery and supporting others.
- Compassionate, empathetic and non-judgemental.
- A confident communicator who can build positive relationships.
- Enthusiastic about community engagement and peer support.
- Able to use your own initiative while contributing to a supportive team.
- Comfortable maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Willing to learn and develop through training and supervision.
Lived experience of drug and/or alcohol use is central to this role and will help you bring understanding, credibility and hope to the people you support.
