Temp to Perm Yard Shunter Required - Derby Quest Employment are currently recruiting for Yard Shunters to support operations within a busy contract logistics environment based in Derby. This is a key role supporting the safe and efficient movement of trailers around the yard and onto loading bays. The successful candidate will help maintain yard flow, support inbound and outbound operations, and ensure trailers are positioned correctly for loading, unloading and dispatch.

Previous shunting experience would be highly beneficial. Candidates must be confident reversing, manoeuvring and towing trailers safely within a busy yard environment.

The Role As a Yard Shunter, your duties may include:
Moving trailers safely between yard locations, staging areas and loading bays Positioning trailers accurately onto bays for loading and unloading Removing loaded trailers from bays and repositioning them as required Coupling and uncoupling trailers safely Completing pre-use vehicle checks and reporting defects Keeping the yard clear, organised and safe Monitoring pedestrians, vehicles and hazards within the yard Communicating with transport, gatehouse and warehouse teams Supporting trailer allocation and bay positioning Responding to real-time operational demands Escalating delays, issues or safety concerns Supporting warehouse duties when yard activity is low Following all site health and safety procedures

What Were Looking For We are looking for candidates who:
Have previous shunting, yard or trailer movement experience Are confident reversing and manoeuvring trailers safely Are confident towing trailers within a busy yard environment Have experience working in logistics, distribution, transport or warehouse environments Have good spatial awareness and a safety-first approach Can communicate clearly with transport and warehouse teams Are reliable, disciplined and able to work independently Are flexible to support warehouse duties when required Are happy working outdoors in varying weather conditions Are looking for a temp-to-perm opportunity
