Reports To: Alternative High School Director
Position SummaryThe Student Support Services staff member provides direct support to students and families while assisting with administrative and data-related functions essential to the successful operation of the alternative high school program. This position serves as a key liaison between students, families, teachers, and administrators, supporting student engagement, attendance, and academic progress in a flexible, student-centered learning environment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Student Support- Build positive, supportive relationships with students in an alternative education setting.
- Assist students with organization, goal-setting, and problem-solving to support academic and behavioral success.
- Monitor attendance, engagement, and progress; communicate concerns to appropriate staff.
- Support implementation of individual student plans (e.g., credit recovery, intervention plans, behavior supports).
- Provide supervision and support during non-instructional times as assigned.
- Serve as an additional point of contact for families, fostering positive communication and engagement.
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of meetings, conferences, and support services.
- Support family outreach efforts, including phone calls, emails, and documentation.
- Provide clerical and organizational support to administrators and instructional staff.
- Maintain accurate student records in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
- Assist with scheduling, filing, correspondence, and preparation of reports.
- Support daily program operations as needed.
- Assist in tracking student progress toward credits, graduation requirements, and program goals.
- Generate basic reports and summaries for staff and administration.
- Ensure data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with district and state requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with adolescents, preferably in an educational or youth-support setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of spreadsheets or student information systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA requirements.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional, calm, and supportive demeanor.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of students and the program.
- Work is primarily performed in a school environment.
- Position may involve periods of standing, walking, and interacting with students.
- Occasional evening or flexible hours may be required for parent meetings or events.
