Pink Tile Education are working in partnership with a specialist Provision in the Lancing area, who are seeking a resilient, proactive, and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team.
This provision supports young people aged 5–16 who are unable to access mainstream education due to social, emotional, mental health, behavioural, or medical needs. Many pupils may have experienced challenges within education and require additional support, consistency, and positive relationship building to help them re‑engage with learning.
The school are looking for someone who can build strong, trusting relationships with students, remain calm under pressure, and support both academic engagement and emotional regulation throughout the school day. This role can be challenging, and pupils may at times present with verbal or physical behaviours when dysregulated. Staff must be able to remain calm, use distraction techniques, understand triggers, and build strong relationships with students by getting to know their interests, strengths, and individual personalities.
Having a good understanding of mental health and the impact this can have on behaviour, learning, and emotional regulation is essential within this role.

- Be patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
- Have strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Be proactive and willing to get fully involved in school life
- Be able to build positive and professional relationships with both students and staff
- Have an understanding of mental health and trauma‑informed approaches
- Be confident supporting pupils who may present with challenging behaviour
- Have experience in education, care, youth work, coaching, mentoring, residential care, support work, mental health support, or similar environments
The school are also very open to candidates with transferable skills and life experience. Applicants from backgrounds such as care work, sports coaching, youth work, the prison service, psychology graduates, mentoring, social care, or mental health support often thrive within these settings due to their ability to build relationships, stay calm in challenging situations, and positively support young people.
The Role:- Supporting students both within and outside of the classroom
- Assisting with emotional regulation and engagement in learning
- Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
- Encouraging positive behaviour and participation
- Using distraction and de‑escalation strategies where needed
- Building trusting relationships with students to support progress and wellbeing
- Full‑time position: 8:30am – 3:30pm
- £100 per day
- Opportunity for long‑term and temp‑to‑perm positions for the right candidate
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and specialist setting where no two days are the same, and where staff genuinely make a lasting impact on young people’s lives.
