We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Sonographer to join our dynamic ultrasound team within the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC). The successful candidate will be responsible for independently performing a wide range of general medical ultrasound examinations and contributing to high‑quality diagnostic services. This is a full‑time position, requiring flexibility and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care in line with NHS standards.
Previous NHS experience is essential.
- Independently perform and report on a variety of general medical ultrasound scans including:
- Abdominal
- Gynaecological
- Testicular
- Soft tissue
- Groin
- Ensure high standards of clinical practice in line with national guidelines and Trust protocols.
- Accurately document and communicate findings using the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team within the CDC and other Trust departments.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in ultrasound technology and procedures.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review processes.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and students as required.
- Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PGCert/PGDip/MSc or equivalent).
- NHS experience in a Sonographer role.
- Competence in a wide range of general ultrasound examinations (as listed above).
- Current HCPC registration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
- Commitment to providing patient‑centred care and maintaining confidentiality.
- Experience working in or transitioning to a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) environment.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and audit practices in ultrasound.
- Full‑time hours, typically Monday to Friday with occasional weekend cover if required.
- Based at the Community Diagnostic Centre, with potential for cross‑site working depending on service needs.
