The OpportunityWe are recruiting for an experienced Solar Winds Engineer / Solar Winds Technical Consultant to support a major enterprise IT infrastructure and observability improvement programme.
This six-month contract offers the opportunity to work hands-on with the Solar Winds Orion Platform, improving infrastructure monitoring, alerting, event management and operational visibility across a complex Windows Server, Linux and VMware environment.
You will work alongside infrastructure, application support and IT service management teams to enhance monitoring capabilities, reduce outstanding technical work and improve service reliability.
- Administer, configure and optimise the Solar Winds Orion monitoring platform.
- Design and implement infrastructure monitoring solutions across Windows and Linux servers.
- Onboard servers, network devices and applications into Solar Winds monitoring.
- Configure Solar Winds agents, alerts, events and monitoring thresholds.
- Troubleshoot monitoring incidents and perform root cause analysis.
- Improve alert management, event correlation and monitoring automation.
- Support monitoring across VMware-based, on-premises infrastructure.
- Assist with Service Now integration, ITSM processes and CMDB alignment.
- Support observability improvements involving APM, DEM and Azure monitoring.
- Produce technical documentation and monitoring standards.
- Strong hands-on Solar Winds Orion Platform administration and configuration.
- Experience implementing and supporting Solar Winds monitoring solutions.
- Windows Server and Linux infrastructure administration.
- Infrastructure monitoring, event management, alerting and automation.
- Troubleshooting, incident management and root cause analysis.
- Experience supporting complex enterprise IT environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical stakeholders.
- Service Now integration and IT Service Management (ITSM).
- Network monitoring and infrastructure observability.
- VMware infrastructure monitoring.
- Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) or Azure monitoring.
- Monitoring governance and operational documentation.
