Full‑time (37.5 hours per week) Band 6 nurse to join our small outpatient team as deputy nurse manager of Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) Main OPD. The department manages clinics covering a wide range of specialities such as Cardiology, Respiratory, Neurology, Digestive Diseases, Diabetic Endocrine, Renal, Haematology and Oncology. The post holder will need to understand the differing clinical pathways for patients within these specialities and to work these clinics effectively.

As an active clinical member of the team you will collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to ensure the smooth and efficient running of multispecialty and nurse‑led clinics. You will support the OPD Nurse manager, promote an environment conducive to individual and team development and help deliver the targets set for each speciality in a constant drive for excellence. When the Nurse Manager is absent you will take effective management of the department.

We provide a bespoke induction programme and an Outpatients Practice Educator to support you in becoming competent and effective in the role. The department offers support, encouragement, ongoing learning and development opportunities.

Visa sponsorship is available under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25,000) and any role‑specific criteria.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the OPD Nurse team and support the Nurse Manager.
  • Promote an environment that encourages individual and team development for high‑standard patient care in line with clinical governance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to ensure smooth, efficient running of multispecialty clinics and nurse‑led clinics.
  • Take effective management of the department in the absence of the Nurse Manager and support the delivery of strategic demands and divisional goals.
  • Assist the Nurse Manager in meeting strategic demands and divisional goals and help to deliver & understand the targets set for each speciality.
Qualifications
  • Band 6 nursing qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and experience within outpatient settings, ideally across multiple specialities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of effective working within multidisciplinary teams and commitment to high‑standard patient care.
