We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Radiology Senior Nurse to work within a dedicated team at Worthing & Southlands Hospitals which is part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
Worthing & Southlands Radiology Nurses take responsibility for the clinical nursing care of patients attending the radiology department. We provide a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic image guided services that require hands on nursing care from our team. Radiology Nurses also play a pivotal part in Interventional Radiology (IR), a form of image guided surgery that uses imaging techniques to guide equipment to parts of the body that surgeons couldn't normally reach without an open operation.
Mainduties of the job
The Radiology Senior Nurse's key role is to act as a role model and ensure effective staff supervision with clinical practice, working with staff and patients in an advisory, teaching and support capacity and maintaining professional competence, authority and credibility. They will also be required to deputise for the Lead Radiology Nurse.
The Senior Nurse must be able to work collaboratively with clinical experts including Radiology Consultants, Nursing staff and Clinical Teams in the development of expert, personal centred practice.
To ensure we continue to remain effective and efficient, the Radiology Senior Nurse will help to develop protocols and guidelines and work closely with our appointment teams to ensure the smooth operational running of the interventional radiology (IR) department.

This role involves the site specific responsibility for ensuring effective and efficient nursing within the Radiology Department including Interventional Radiology. For further information, please read the attached job description and person specification.

Person Specification Qualifications;Registration & Experience
- Registered Nurse - NMC
- Evidence of professional development since qualification
- Mentorship;
Teaching or Assessing Courses - Able to administer medication and hold a valid IV medication and cannulation certificate.
- Experience as a 'scrub' nurse
- BLS/ILS Trained
- Ability to participate and implement the development of nursing practice
- Previous experience in working with Radiology/Interventional Radiology
- Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
- Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
