Job Overview

This role is for an experienced and enthusiastic Research Nurse to join the Sussex Commercial Research Delivery Network hosted by University Hospitals Sussex (UHSx) NHS Foundation Trust. The position is based at The Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, but may require working at any UHSx hospital and in community settings across Sussex (e.g., pharmacies, GP practices, and Community Diagnostic Centres). The successful candidate will work autonomously, offering advice and support to less experienced research staff, and ensuring the smooth running of research delivery with high levels of coordination and effective communication.

The post holder will be responsible for:

• Supporting the design, delivery and monitoring of commercial clinical trials.
• Coordinating patient recruitment, consent and data collection activities.
• Maintaining good relationships with investigators, sponsors and other stakeholders.
• Ensuring all work complies with Clinical Governance, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and data protection regulations.
• Providing training and guidance to junior research staff.
• Managing the day‑to‑day operational requirements of the research team.

• Prior Research Nurse experience.
• Clinical Governance and GCP knowledge.
• Current driving licence and access to a car.
• Venepuncture and IV skills.

• Experience of cancer or haematology nursing.

• Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
• Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.

• This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route, but sponsorship is only provided to candidates who meet the UKVI requirements.
• Applicants must hold a UK NMC registration. Internationally qualified nurses are not currently being directly hired.
• You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
