Shift Pattern: 4 shifts on / 4 shifts off (2 day shifts 7am – 7pm followed by 2 night shifts 7pm – 7am)

Salary: £35,400 per annum

As an AMC Operator, you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding operational assets, colleagues, and the public across Southern Water’s estate. You’ll monitor CCTV, manage access permissions and respond to alarm activations, acting as the key link between operational sites and the Operational Control Centre.

• Monitor CCTV feeds and respond to incidents according to established protocols
• Track and verify alarm activations across the estate, initiating appropriate responses
• Manage remote access permissions in line with security guidelines
• Conduct scheduled remote tests and checks of security systems
• Maintain detailed operational logs throughout your shift
• Support the AMC Supervisor in delivering the broader security strategy
• Produce and manage Southern Water access control cards

Knowledge & Experience

• Solid understanding of CCTV legislation and operational security disciplines
• Experience working in a busy alarm monitoring/control room (minimum 3 years in a corporate setting)
• Familiarity with integrated security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control)
• Proven collaboration with law enforcement or security agencies
• SIA CCTV and Door Supervisor licences are essential
• Experience in matrix organisations and providing security guidance
• Willingness to obtain or already holding a CTC security clearance

• Strong observational and analytical skills, especially under pressure
• Clear and effective communication—both written and verbal
• Ability to make sound decisions within defined guidelines
• Confidence in managing sensitive conversations and incidents
• Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
• Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD)
• Membership in a recognised security body (e.g., Security Institute, ASIS) preferred
