- Provide speech and language services to clients/patients/residents; monitor disease progression and adjust treatments accordingly.
- Instruct clients/patients/residents in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises; provide consultation for clients/patients/residents through speech and language treatment processes.
- Ensure all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols and quality requirements are met.
- Treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses/disorders as assigned; document in accordance with departmental guidelines and meet regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate the level of treatment appropriate to the specialty; adhere to accepted clinical practice guidelines of professional organizations.
- Collaborate with providers, case managers, third party payers, and public organizations; may supervise assistants, aides, and students; provide ongoing education and training to peers as determined by department leadership.
- Be flexible with variable work schedules/assignments and participate in activities to promote the department, Sanford Health, and the Good Samaritan Society.
- Work across post-acute, long-term care, and home health environments as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as requested by manager.
- Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure; must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Speech-Language Pathologist.
- When working at a Sanford Health Facility (preferred by GSS Facilities):
Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). - May require valid driver’s license when applicable.
- Obtains and maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
