Department Details- Work in the Emergency Department and Walk‑In clinic.
- Join a multi‑specialty team of 30 providers featuring Primary Care, Pediatrics, Women’s, Orthopedics, Podiatry, General Surgery, Oncology, Emergency Medicine and hospitalist.
- Work 12‑hour shifts, 36 patient contact hours per week.
- Serve a diverse patient population.
The Physician Assistant (PA) provides expert clinical guidance in a specialized field and coordinates patient care quality initiatives.
Job DescriptionProvides service to patients in acute, short‑ and long‑term care settings by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. Obtains a thorough medical history from patients and their dependents; performs examinations and/or assessments to determine patient needs. With other healthcare, analyzes and interprets information from patient records, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic data to develop and establish appropriate diagnoses.
Demonstrates care coordination by rounding on patients when necessary and collaborates with providers independently to deliver care. Formulates treatment plans, prescribes medications as legally authorized, maintains complete records, consults or refers patients when scope exceeds expertise, and provides patient education to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease. May cover hospital consultations, rounding, and assist with patient procedures. Conducts research and applies evidence‑based practice guidelines to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
Maintains current knowledge of state regulations, reimbursement, and payer systems and demonstrates advanced clinical competence.
• Master’s or Baccalaureate degree (Associate’s or Nursing Degree if training prior to 1994).
• Successful completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA) or its predecessors.
• Demonstrated current competence and provision of care for at least 30 patients in the past twelve months or completion of an ARC‑PA approved program in the past twelve months.
• Successful completion of the national certifying examination and current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances.
