Composite Technician

McMurtry Automotive is looking for a Composite Technician to join our team, working on prototype components for our cutting-edge automotive projects.

What you'll do:

• Manufacture, assemble, and repair composite components for development prototypes
• Trim, fit, and bond composite parts using appropriate tools and equipment, building jigs where needed
• Carry out track-damage repairs using wet lay-up and splash moulds
• Lay up and cure R&D composite components to plybooks and technical drawings, primarily using prepreg lay-up, vacuum bagging, and oven curing
• Follow defined processes for bond preparation, resin and adhesive mixing, release procedures, and specified oven cure cycles
• Work closely with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Keep accurate records of work performed and processes used
• Help develop new techniques to improve quality and efficiency
• Keep your workspace clean, organized, and safe, with the right tools, PPE, and consumables on hand

What you'll bring:

• 3+ years' experience in composite lay-up, fitting, and repair within motor sport
• Knowledge of trackside repair processes
• Strong understanding of composite materials and low-volume manufacturing
• A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to quality
• Solid problem-solving skills, comfortable working independently or as part of a team
• Skilled with hand and power tools used in composite manufacturing
• Ability to read and interpret plybooks and technical drawings
• Basic computer literacy for documentation and record-keeping
