Payroll Clerk Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Payroll Clerk to join a busy and established finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous payroll experience who is looking for a varied role with the added benefit of hybrid working.

You'll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, working closely with employees, managers and the wider finance team to ensure payroll is completed accurately and to deadline.

Payroll Clerk Responsibilities
  • Processing payroll from start to finish
  • Processing starters, leavers and employee changes
  • Calculating salaries, overtime, bonuses and deductions
  • Processing statutory payments including SSP and SMP
  • Managing pension contributions and auto-enrolment
  • Completing payroll reconciliations
  • Producing payroll reports
  • Dealing with employee payroll queries
  • Ensuring all payroll information is accurate and up to date
  • Processing year-end payroll requirements including P60s
  • Ensuring payroll is processed in line with HMRC legislation and deadlines
  • Maintaining confidential employee records
  • Supporting the wider finance team with payroll-related tasks
Payroll Clerk Requirements
  • Previous experience working within a payroll role
  • Good understanding of payroll processes and legislation
  • Experience processing payroll accurately and to tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to deal confidently with payroll queries
  • Experience using payroll software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • CIPP, AAT or relevant payroll qualification would be beneficial but not essential
