Short Focus Film Festival is an international platform dedicated to celebrating and supporting short-form cinema from emerging and established filmmakers worldwide. Our judging process is central to maintaining the quality, credibility, and global reputation of the festival.

We are currently seeking Volunteer Film Festival Judges to join our judging committee and contribute to the evaluation and selection of films submitted to the festival.

The Role

Volunteer Festival Judges are responsible for reviewing short film submissions and contributing to the decision-making process for official selections, nominations, and awards. This role offers valuable exposure to the inner workings of an international film festival and the opportunity to engage with a wide range of creative work from diverse voices and cultures.

Key Responsibilities
  • View and assess short film submissions in line with established judging criteria
  • Provide objective and consistent scoring and feedback
  • Participate in the shortlisting of nominated films and award recipients
  • Adhere to review timelines and confidentiality requirements
  • Collaborate with the judging and festival programming teams as required
Skills and Experience
  • Strong interest in film, visual storytelling, or creative media
  • Ability to assess work critically and impartially
  • Reliable time management and attention to detail
  • No previous judging, film, or events experience required
Eligibility Requirements
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
  • Applicants must not have submitted a film to Short Focus Film Festival during the current festival season
