We are looking to appoint two energetic and motivated individuals with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to work as part of our cluster pupil support services as Family Engagement Officers. These roles are funded by a WG grant.
The role will involve working with primary aged learners and families across primary schools in the Eastern cluster. Candidates will work closely with school attendance officers, senior leaders and key stakeholders to build positive and constructive relationships with learners and their families. Postholders will provide bespoke support to our most vulnerable learners and families, engaging with relevant agencies as required. In particular, you will develop areas such as wellbeing, attendance and positive attitudes to learning to ensure that all learners have the opportunity to thrive in their journey through the primary schools.
Key attributes include confidence in conducting home visits, experience working as part of a team and alone, high standards of record keeping and a flexible approach to meet the demands and expectations of the post.
These roles are unique and are located in Cardiff; staff currently working in Cardiff may apply. Secondment is welcomed; please ensure you have agreement from your governing body if applying for this role.
Qualifications & ExperienceThe ideal candidates will have successful experience of working with primary school‑aged children and their families both in a school setting and out of school hours with a commitment to working in a multi‑agency environment.
Internal candidates wishing to apply for a secondment must obtain approval prior to application (Form SEC1 4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or, for school‑based staff, by the Headteacher / Governing Body.
