Cwm Alun will be a new specialist provision registered as a Pupil Referral Unit initially. The provision aims to be a nurturing and inclusive setting specializing in supporting pupils with Emotional, Social and Behavioural Difficulties (ESBD).
We are seeking to appoint a caring, patient and committed Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to pupils who require additional support to feel safe, engage in learning and develop confidence.
Responsibilities- Supporting pupils in lessons – helping pupils engage with tasks, stay focused, and participate positively in classroom activities.
- Providing emotional support – using calm, nurturing approaches to help pupils manage feelings, reduce anxiety, and develop self‑regulation skills.
- Adapting tasks and resources – making learning accessible by breaking down instructions, simplifying activities and offering reassurance.
- Encouraging social interaction – supporting pupils to build friendships, communicate appropriately and work cooperatively with others.
- Working collaboratively – liaising with teachers, support staff and external professionals to ensure consistent, high‑quality support.
- Promoting a positive environment – helping to maintain a safe, structured and nurturing atmosphere where pupils can thrive.
- Compassionate, patient and committed to supporting pupils with ESMH needs.
- Calm under pressure, with a positive and resilient approach.
- Able to build trusting relationships with pupils who may struggle with confidence or emotional regulation.
- A good communicator who works well as part of a team.
- Reliable, flexible and willing to learn new strategies and approaches.
Experience of working with pupils with ESBD or additional learning needs is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
