About the RoleWe have a part-time role available at our Kirkley Hall campus. This is an excellent opportunity to join an outstanding college and make a real difference to the lives of young people in the region.
The main focus of the role will be planning, leading and delivering exceptional quality GCSE and Functional Skills mathematics programmes to 16-19-year-old students as part of the college’s Enhanced Curriculum.
The college provides a range of excellent professional development opportunities and support, including an Initial Teacher Education offer. These posts offer a fantastic opportunity for candidates who are looking to move into teaching mathematics, are committed to becoming fully qualified with two years and can demonstrate drive, ambition and a passion for the subject.
Role Responsibilities- Plan, prepare and deliver high quality, sequenced teaching, learning and assessment
- Teach students to exceptionally high standards using appropriate, varied and responsive student-centred approaches which embrace learning technologies and innovation to enhance the student experience.
- Actively engage in reflective practice and contribute to the wider professional development programme.
- Liaise effectively with the wider curriculum and support teams to ensure appropriate and high-quality academic support is provided
- Participate in college recruitment and marketing events where required.
- Level 5 (minimum) Diploma in Education and Training - or a commitment to complete this with two years
- Level 6 (degree level) qualification in Mathematics or a related subject is desirable. Minimum of Level 3 is essential
- Working collaboratively to review progress and support achievement
- Taking ownership and accountability of student progress
- Planning, developing, and leading a programme
- Planning and delivering sessions that are safe, inclusive, stretching, relevant and include adaptations for special educational needs
- Developing appropriate, fair and valid methods of assessment and providing constructive and timely feedback to support progress and achievement
- Maintaining up-to-date and accurate records and data
- Experience of teaching in the Further Education sector
- Experience of working with young people in an educational setting
- Experience of planning and delivery of maths lessons to students with varying starting points
- Experience of keeping records of student progress against achievements
- Experience of taking ownership of a programme of study
