Job Overview

Wrexham Local Authority wishes to appoint an experienced, dedicated and passionate leader to join the Inclusion service. The successful candidate will have lead responsibility for ensuring the Education Department and schools within the Borough discharge their safeguarding duties. The role will operate at a strategic, support and operational level as outlined in Keeping Learners Safe. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is passionate about safeguarding and the importance this has in ensuring children and young people are supported to achieve their potential.

Responsibilities
  • Lead responsibility for ensuring the Education Department and schools within the Borough discharge their safeguarding duties.
  • Operate at a strategic, support and operational level in line with Keeping Learners Safe.
  • Develop and implement safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other agencies, schools, families, and children/young people to support safeguarding initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on trauma‑informed practice and safeguarding procedures.
Qualifications
  • Experienced professional – social worker, health professional or teacher.
  • Knowledge of the education system.
  • Extensive knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice and its effective implementation.
  • Experience working at a strategic level, developing policies and procedures.
  • Experience working collaboratively with other agencies, schools, families and children/young people.
  • Excellent communication skills.
