Learning Support Assistant (Inclusion Services & Disability Support)

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Wrexham University to join our pool of casual Learning Support Assistants within Inclusion Services & Disability Support.

Our Learning Support Assistants provide assistance within the academic environment to identified students with additional support needs, as recommended by an Assessor or Advisor from our Inclusion Services & Disability Support team. The role involves assisting students with the demands of the HE environment, taking high quality and comprehensive notes, assisting a student to stay on task and practical assistance around campus to enhance the student experience for those with identified support needs.

Tasks may include -

  • Working with a student to manage their time and prioritise their tasks
  • Assisting a student to stay on task and remain focussed on their activity within the classroom environment
  • Taking high-quality, comprehensive notes in lectures and taught sessions in the student’s preferred style and format then providing these to the student within an agreed time frame.
  • Assisting a student with general orientation around campus.
  • Assistance navigating the library catalogue and accessing resources.
  • Reading aloud and scribing in examinations, in line with agreed reasonable adjustments for students.
  • Practical assistance around campus e.g. carrying books, equipment or other study materials.
