Position: Park CP - Teaching Assistant Apprentice  LL12 0TR

Park Community Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Forest School Assistant as an Apprentice opportunity to join our team. This exciting opportunity will allow you to gain valuable experience supporting children’s learning, wellbeing and development through outdoor education. Essential Criteria

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Support for the Pupils
  • Supervise and provide support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
  • Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
  • Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher
Support for the Teachers
  • Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work
  • Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
Apprenticeship Training Programme
  • On-the-job training – gaining practical experience within a school setting.
  • Off-the-job training – attending sessions covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development, and learning strategies.
  • Regular assessments and feedback to track progress and improve skills.
  • Additional learning support, particularly in literacy, numeracy and communication.
Job Requirements
  • Any previous experience working with children
  • Any previous experience with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Strong Welsh, English and Mathematics
  • Communicational skills relevant to both children and adults
  • Competent skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT
  • Ability to self-manage and organise own time
  • Reliable
  • Smart appearance
  • Professional attitude
  • A level of maturity with working in a school environment will be required
  • Ambitious and hard working
  • Desire to be a positive role model to young people
