We are looking for a Library & Academic Skills Coordinator to join our team s role will lead a dedicated team to deliver group and 1:1 support for a diverse range of learners, focusing on enabling learners to succeed through academic skills development. You will contribute to planning and facilitating support in an educational context, liaise closely with Progress Coach Coordinators, Progress Coaches and curriculum staff to promote, identify and develop intervention strategies that create positive outcomes.
Through close cooperation with key Higher Education departments you will develop and deliver a strategic approach to providing guidance on academic study skills to our HE cohorts, enhancing their university experience and supporting their success.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead a high-performing team, motivate and develop staff through line management.
- Plan, facilitate and deliver learner support, training and engagement sessions.
- Source, promote and utilize digital learning content and technology.
- Monitor budget and purchasing processes as part of line‑management duties.
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with staff and students.
- Collaborate with academic departments to develop strategic academic skills programmes.
Essential Requirements:
- Educated to Degree Level.
- Experience of managing, leading, developing and motivating a team.
- Proven experience of learner support in an educational context.
- Experience of delivering training and engaging support sessions.
- Knowledge of learning styles, strategies and differentiation.
- Good communicator with positive stakeholder relationships.
- Effective use of technologies for learning (MS Office, Google, EdTech).
- Good literacy, digital literacy and numeracy skills.
- Resilience and organisation, excellent personal skills.
- Energy and enthusiasm to drive a team to deliver an excellent learner experience.
Welsh language skills are desirable for this post. We encourage applications in Welsh.
Application requirements:
The role is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order and requires an Enhanced DBS with Barred List check. Applicants must disclose all cautions and convictions. A risk assessment will be carried out; some convictions may be deemed unsuitable for work with children.
Depending on the position, successful candidates may also need to register with the Education Workforce Council.
