We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and adaptable Art Teachers to work on a supply basis in secondary schools across Wrexham and the surrounding areas
. Whether you are looking for flexible day-to-day supply work, short-term cover or a longer-term placement, we have opportunities to suit your availability.

As a Supply Art Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, following work set by the school or planning your own lessons where required. Alongside teaching Art,
general cover will also be required
, meaning you may be asked to supervise and deliver pre-set work in a range of different subjects.

You will help maintain a positive learning environment, manage classroom behaviour and ensure pupils remain engaged and on task throughout the school day.

We welcome applications from Qualified Teachers with QTS
, including newly qualified Art Teachers looking to gain valuable classroom experience. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of their subject area, good classroom management skills and a flexible, professional approach.

Job Specification

New Directions Education recruits Art Teachers for supply jobs in schools across the UK.

Ideally, you'll be happy to teach from Key Stage 3 (KS3) to Key Stage 4 (KS4) with a possibility of teaching Key Stage 5 (KS5).

As an Art and Design Teacher you'll be expected to:

  • Teach all areas of the curriculum or subject specialism
  • Organise the classroom and learning resources to create a positive teaching environment
  • Plan, prepare and teach lessons that cater for the needs of all student ability ranges
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic and imaginative presentation
  • Maintain discipline
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development
  • Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area
  • Staying up-to-date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly, particularly within smaller schools.
