Senior Electrical Engineer – Mott Mac Donald Bentley
MOTT MACDONALD BENTLEY is a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott Mac Donald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley to deliver award‑winning projects. With a new eight‑year framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, we will deliver projects across the DCC region covering clean and wastewater treatment sites, below‑ground assets, reservoirs and nature‑based solutions.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities in the UK water market. You’ll work on projects that keep water flowing and wastewater treated, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of treatment systems.
Responsibilities- Preparing and reviewing electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on the client’s site, working with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, cabling, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs and SCADA, across new and legacy installations.
- Producing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
- Understanding and contributing to design standards, applying client and industry standards.
- Appropriately challenging client specifications and presenting and defending solutions to complex problems.
- Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions and digital tools.
- Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews for projects across teams.
- Managing interfaces and integration of the design with that of other disciplines and production of documentation.
- Actively seeking input from other engineers, specialists, client and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
- Working closely and collaboratively with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
- Supervising and mentoring graduates and engineers, assisting them to develop their knowledge and skills.
- Positively engaging with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
- Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within the existing systems.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with water, wastewater or infrastructure projects.
- Experience of delivering high‑quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
- Clear communication skills with team members and stakeholders.
- Methodical approach to problem‑solving and a proactive, pragmatic mindset.
- Proficiency in delivering results within short time frames, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
