As Improvement Engineer for a production area, you won’t just maintain equipment — you’ll lead the charge in making it better. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll be the go‑to authority for your area, driving performance, reliability, and innovation across both GMP and non‑GMP assets.
We’re looking for someone who’s not satisfied with quick fixes. You’ll ask why a failure occurred, dig deep into root causes, and implement solutions that prevent recurrence. Your mindset should be one of continuous improvement
, always seeking smarter, safer, and more efficient ways to work.
This is a leadership role without direct reports — ideal for someone who leads by example, takes full ownership and accountability
, and collaborates cross‑functionally to deliver results. You’ll influence others, guide technical direction, and champion best practices in maintenance and reliability.
- Technical leadership of your designated area(s), ensuring equipment performance and driving improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Maintenance & Reliability, Operations and Quality teams to guide the efforts of assigned technical resources as needed.
- Lead comprehensive root cause analyses and implement robust corrective and preventive actions.
- Design, execute, and continuously improve maintenance programs and SOPs to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.
- Apply reliability‑centred maintenance, predictive tools, and condition monitoring to optimise asset performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with service providers, including regular supplier performance reviews.
- Proven experience in a similar engineering role within manufacturing – pharma, FMCG or food sectors preferred, with experience determining root cause of complex manufacturing problems.
- Proven record of delivering improvements in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience in utilising various continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
- Completed engineering apprenticeship with further education (HNC/HND or higher preferred).
- A proactive, action‑oriented mindset with the ability to influence, challenge and lead.
- Curious – enjoys finding the why and ensuring prevention for the future.
If you’re driven by curiosity, passionate about solving problems and ready to lead through technical excellence — we’d love to hear from you!
