Role Description
This is a full-time, Construction Project Draughtsman role based in Wrexham at our main design office. Visiting sites throughout the Northwest will also be required. The Construction Project Draughtsman will prepare detailed technical drawings for external roof and cladding systems, using CAD and related design software in line with project specifications and regulatory requirements. The role involves interpreting architectural and structural drawings, site dimensioning of existing structures, coordinating design details with internal design team and external architectural consultants.
The individual will support project managers and engineers by producing accurate schedules, material take-offs, and drawing registers, and will assist in preparing documentation for the Building Safety Regulator and Cladding Safety Fund compliance. The role also includes reviewing design information for buildability, collaborating with site teams to resolve technical queries, and maintaining tidy, well-documented drawing records.
- Proficiency in technical drawing and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar), with experience producing detailed construction or façade/cladding drawings.
- Strong understanding of construction detailing, building envelopes, and external wall cladding systems, including interfaces, fixings, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Knowledge of building regulations, fire safety principles, and compliance requirements relevant to external wall systems and remediation projects.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with designers, engineers, project managers, and site teams.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple drawing revisions and deadlines.
- Previous experience in construction, façade engineering, or cladding remediation is highly beneficial.
- Relevant technical qualification in construction, architectural technology, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Comfort working in our design office and on-site, engaging with site surveys, measurements, and technical inspections as needed.
