Position Summary Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Full time permanent position 39 hours per week

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical leadership and functional responsibility across the Machine Shop, Treatments and Assembly areas, ensuring robust manufacturing processes, effective production support and delivery of engineering objectives.

Key responsibilities include leading Manufacturing Engineering activities across assigned areas, providing technical support and problem-solving, and acting as a key interface between Engineering and Production. The role will lead Tool Design activities, ensuring effective tooling solutions are developed and implemented to meet production requirements.

The position will also lead continuous improvement projects focused on improving productivity, quality, cost and process capability. Additional responsibilities include supporting NPI, process development, engineering changes and the ongoing development of manufacturing capability, standards and best practice.

Essential Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and functional responsibility across the Machine Shop, Treatments and Assembly functions Lead and manage Manufacturing Engineering activities to support production requirements, business objectives and customer commitments Provide technical support and structured problem-solving for manufacturing issues, driving effective and sustainable solutions Lead the development, implementation and optimisation of manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality and cost Manage Tool Design activities, ensuring tooling solutions are fit for purpose, cost-effective and delivered to production requirements Manage and prioritise engineering activities across multiple production areas and competing business requirements Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean, structured problem-solving and data-driven improvement methodologies Support New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring manufacturing processes, tooling and documentation are developed and implemented effectively Lead the introduction and implementation of Engineering Changes within manufacturing areas Work closely with Production, Quality, Operations and other Engineering disciplines to resolve technical and operational issues Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to Manufacturing Engineers and other engineering personnel Support the development and implementation of new manufacturing technologies, equipment, processes and systems Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable customer, regulatory, quality and company requirements Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions relating to manufacturing, quality and production issues Contribute to capacity planning, capital investment and business cases for manufacturing equipment, tooling and process improvements Promote a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence and effective collaboration across Manufacturing Engineering and Production

Position Requirements Academic: HNC / Equivalent or Higher

Experience:

Minimum 5 years engineering experience in the Aerospace or similar industry CAD proficient [Catia V5 preferred]

Experience with budget maintenance and control

Key

Competencies:

Knowledge of GD&T/SPC techniques

Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of TMS systems

Must show a high level of knowledge in inspection processes for major tool assemblies

Other skills/Abilities

Skills:

Good practical co-ordination skills (Company Test)
Good understanding of spoken and written English (Company Test)
Abilities:
Ability to work using own initiative

Confident with technical decisions

Can interact and work with multi-disciplined team Confident in explaining and presenting any issues or errors to multi functional departments
