We are looking to appoint a suitably experienced and qualified candidate to work within the Contracts and Engineering team to manage and lead the highway development control section.
To be the right person for this role you will have experience of all aspects of highway development control protocols, knowledge and experience of providing technical appraisals and reports on planning applications relating to the public highway. In addition, it is essential that you possess good presentation skills with the confidence to represent the department at committees, public planning enquiries and court hearings.
The post holder will possess a familiarity with highways design standards, technical specifications and highways legislation relating to private street works and have the ability to interpret and lead on the suitability of planning submissions in collaboration with team members and colleagues from other departments.
The flexibility to attend periodic meetings outside of the normal working hours with the purpose of representing the department is essential.
A qualification in Civil Engineering to degree standard or equivalent is an essential requirement in addition to the ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills. The successful candidate must have the ability to organise and motivate a team of colleagues to establish and meet deadlines and develop and maintain working practices, which are compliant with established protocols and the statutory and regulatory functions of the department.
