Enforcement Officer

Are you passionate about improving the local environment and making a positive difference in your community? We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and highly motivated Enforcement Officer to join our Enforcement Services Team.

This is a varied and rewarding role that plays a vital part in maintaining clean, safe, and accessible public spaces across the County Borough. Working both independently and as part of a wider team, you will undertake parking and environmental enforcement activities, engage with members of the public, and support initiatives that encourage community pride and responsible behaviour.

This position is ideally suited to individuals who can remain calm under pressure and maintain professionalism in challenging situations. Enforcement Officers regularly encounter people who may disagree with enforcement action and, at times, may become confrontational or verbally abusive. While full training and support will be provided, applicants should understand that managing conflict and dealing with difficult conversations forms a significant part of the role.

You will need the confidence to engage with members of the public, explain legislation and Council policies clearly, make evidence-based decisions, and remain professional when faced with challenging behaviour.

As an Enforcement Officer, you will patrol Council car parks and on-street locations throughout Wrexham County Borough to monitor compliance with parking restrictions and issue Penalty Charge Notices where appropriate. In addition, you will investigate environmental offences, including littering, fly-tipping, dog control offences, and abandoned vehicles, taking enforcement action where necessary.

Essential Requirements:

• 5 GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications).
• Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
• Ability to handle difficult situations confidently and professionally.
• Full driving licence.
• Flexibility to work a rota, including evenings, weekends, and occasional work outside normal office hours.
• Physically fit and able to patrol areas on foot for the duration of the working day.

The post is based on a 37-hour working week operating on a rota system covering five days over seven, including weekend working.
