Complex Care Support Worker - Night Shifts

Main duties of the job

The Complex Care Support Worker will be responsible for assisting the client with a range of tasks, including personal care, PEG feeding, medication administration, hydrotherapy physiotherapy, meal preparation, and providing emotional support. The successful candidate will need to have experience in supporting individuals with complex needs and be confident in working with various medical equipment and procedures. Strong communication skills and the ability to build a trusting relationship with the client are essential.

Job responsibilities

Complex Care Support Worker - Nights Shifts

Location: Port Talbott

Pay: £16.08 weeknight waking nights, £16.84 per hour weekend waking nights
Job Type: Zero-hour contract Shifts: 8pm-8am, 7 nights per week. Full time/part time hours available.

We also have sleeping night shifts available, 8pm-8am, plus day shifts 8am-8pm.

Role Overview: We are offering an opportunity for experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Workers to join our new client in Port Talbott, working on a 2:1 ratio. Our client is a fun-loving male in his early 20’s with a brilliant sense of humour and a passion for football—proudly cheering for both Cardiff City FC and Chelsea. He’s an adrenaline enthusiast who enjoys skiing, surfing, and zip-wiring.

Whilst you won’t find a pet goat at home, you will spot a cherished photo of Bartley—the goat he sponsored in honour of Cardiff City’s mascot!

Our client has complex needs such as dystonia, dysphagia, and a PEG, plus allergies which require epi pens. To support his independence and lifestyle, we’re seeking support workers who are confident, empathetic, and capable of building a strong, trusting relationship, preferably via humour!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
  • PEG feeding and medication
  • Assisting with hydrotherapy physio
  • Preparing meals and supporting with nutrition
  • Administering medication (training provided)
  • Providing emotional support and companionship
  • Supporting with moving and handling, mobility and physical activities

  • Previous experience within a similar role, ideally supporting clients with complex needs.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of PEG, dystonia and dysphagia
  • A caring and compassionate nature
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally supporting clients with complex needs, is required. Knowledge and/or experience of PEG, dystonia, and dysphagia is preferred. A valid UK driving license is essential for the role.
