The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary emergency department team, delivering high standards of patient care while responding quickly and effectively to changing clinical situations. Flexible agency shifts are available including days, nights, weekends, and long days.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care within the A&E department. Assess, prioritise, and triage patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries. Administer medications and emergency treatments in line with clinical guidelines and NMC standards. Monitor and manage deteriorating patients, escalating concerns appropriately. Assist with emergency procedures and resuscitation when required. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation. Patient Care Provide compassionate and patient-centred care in high-pressure situations.
Support patients and relatives with clear communication and reassurance. Promote patient dignity, privacy, and safety at all times. Ensure effective infection prevention and control measures are followed. Team Working Work collaboratively with doctors, paramedics, healthcare assistants, and multidisciplinary teams. Participate in clinical handovers, trauma calls, and emergency response situations. Support junior staff and contribute to a positive team environment. Compliance & Professional Standards Adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct and hospital policies.
Maintain safeguarding awareness and escalate concerns appropriately. Participate in mandatory training and ongoing professional development. Ensure compliance with health and safety and clinical governance procedures. Person Specification Essential Requirements Valid NMC registration as a Registered Nurse. Minimum 6 months UK A&E or acute nursing experience. Strong clinical assessment and triage skills. Ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Flexible approach to shifts and working patterns. Desirable Previous NHS emergency department experience. ALS, ILS, or trauma training certifications. Knowledge of electronic patient record systems.
