Job Overview
The post holder will act as a Scientific Specialist for Haematology and be part of a team of senior scientists responsible for the operational delivery of core and specialist blood sciences services on a named site.
As a registered Biomedical Scientist, the post holder is responsible for delivering and continually developing a comprehensive blood sciences service to meet the needs of the BCUHB clinical and patient population, as set by the CPG and communicated by the Blood Sciences site Manager.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

- Work with the Blood Sciences Site Manager, local Senior Scientific Team, and pan-BCU senior scientific team to input to service design and development and to implement agreed developments and departmental policy.
- Manage priorities, design and implement developments, deliver training, and oversee quality within the blood sciences department as part of a multi-skilled team.
- Work toward agreed objectives and deliver specific projects supporting service development and delivery under the supervision of the Blood Sciences site manager.
- Liaise with other senior scientists locally and across sites and with members of the pathology Governance team to ensure service quality and effective management to standards meeting BCUHB, UKAS, HTA and BSQR accreditation and best practice guidelines.

- Evidence of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Good technical, quality and safety knowledge
- Evidence of ability to organise workload to meet deadlines and clinical priorities
- Evidence of good communication skills
- Evidence of implementing a new process (desirable)
- Evidence of teaching and coaching (desirable)
- Evidence of participation in quality assessments and accreditation visits (desirable)
- Evidence of staff management (desirable)
- Good IT knowledge (desirable)
- Good, up-to-date knowledge of laboratory services relevant to a named blood sciences specialty
- Knowledge and experience of a wider Blood Sciences Service
- Evidence of involvement with service development
- Clinical laboratory post-registration experience
- Knowledge and experience of delivering quality-led laboratory services
- Evidence of managing a laboratory or sections within a laboratory (desirable)
- Ability to speak Welsh (desirable)
