Senior Biomedical Scientist - INTERNAL

Job Overview

The post holder will act as a Scientific Specialist for Haematology. The post holder will be part of a team of senior scientists responsible for the operational delivery of core and specialist blood sciences services on a named site.

As a registered Biomedical Scientist, they are responsible for the delivery and continued development of a comprehensive blood sciences service to meet the needs of the BCUHB clinical and patient population and led by the strategic and operation direction set by the CPG and communicated through the Blood Sciences site Manager.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Working with the Blood Sciences Site manager, the local Senior Scientific Team and the pan‑BCU senior scientific team, the post holder will input to service design and development and will implement agreed developments and departmental policy through effective management of a team of scientific and support staff.

The post holder will exercise autonomy within professional boundaries and will be involved in managing priorities, designing and implementing developments, managing and delivering training and overseeing quality within the blood sciences department as part of a multi‑skilled team.

The post holder will work to an agreed set of objectives and deliver to specific projects to support the service development and delivery under the supervision of the Blood Sciences site manager.

Liaison with other senior scientists on the local site and across sites and with members of the pathology Governance team to ensure service quality and effective service and team management to standards that meet BCUHB, UKAS, HTA and BSQR accreditation and other best practice guidelines.
