It costs £5.6m per year to run the Hospice, with only 20% of our funding provided by the government. We are reliant on the support of the community we serve to donate and fundraise to maintain our vital services. Over 400 volunteers give their time to the Hospice helping us run efficiently and effectively as part of the local community.

The successful candidate will be joining a friendly and passionate team that enjoys working in our newly developed state of the art Inpatient Unit. We are looking for an exceptional Deputy Ward Manager to join our dedicated multi-disciplinary team providing high standards of holistic care to our patients and their families under the direction of the Ward Manager to our patients living with life limiting conditions.
You will work as part of the team to provide holistic person-centred care, integrating nursing care with psychological, physical, rehabilitative and spiritual needs. You need to be able to demonstrate evidence-based practice, up to date clinical skills, flexibility and a commitment to the delivery of high quality, effective and efficient nursing care.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Support the Ward Manager and Director of Clinical Services in providing clinical nurse management, leadership, and expertise in all aspects of service delivery within sphere of responsibility.
2. Delegated operational responsibility for the management of the Unit in the absence of the Ward Manager.
3. Take the lead on the shift, taking responsibility of staff, patient care and other unit matters as required.
4. Deputise and represent the Ward Manager and Director of Clinical Services at key meetings if required, ensuring that comprehensive verbal and written feedback provided.
