Job Overview

You will plan, deliver and evaluate interventions and/or treatments when there are complex issues. You will discuss the treatment plan and the related needs with the service user and the wider SMS and Health team and will understand his / her own role in delivering interventions and / or treatments within the plan.

You will identify any specific precautions or contra-indications to the proposed interventions /treatments and take the appropriate action.

You will support and monitor patients throughout, promptly alerting the line manager when there are unexpected changes in individuals’ health and wellbeing or level of risk.

You will support the Psychosocial and clinical caseworkers to manage health promotion initiatives and harm reduction messages.

You will provide information to the Substance Misuse team on how individuals’ needs are changing and feedback on the appropriateness of the individual’s treatment plan when there are issues.

You will prepare for, undertakes and record interventions / treatments correctly, and in line with legislation, policies and procedures and / or established protocols.

Job Requirements
  • You will be qualified to degree level in a relevant subject or have equivalent experience and have a real passion for developing your practitioner, clinical and wider skills within substance misuse in an environment that is ever changing.
  • You will have a passion for helping people who use substances and improving their quality of life.

  • Diploma level or equivalent experience in a relevant health related field or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of Substance Misuse Practitioner role
  • Awareness of wider healthcare issues and delivery of substance misuse care.
Experience Essential criteria
  • Significant experience working within a relevant clinical service as a senior HCSW or equivalent
  • Experience of delivering groups and/or presentations.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a forensic/custodial setting.
