Infrastructure Designer – 12 month contract initially based in Manchester (hybrid – 2-3 days per week onsite). Rate: £400–£450 p/d via umbrella company.

Responsibilities
  • Produce infrastructure design documentation based on a solution architecture to be implemented by a 3rd party supplier.
  • Coordinate accurate estimates for inclusion in end‑to‑end project costs and business cases and assist with estimates for the Co‑operative Bank.
  • Lead technical resources and SMEs within projects.
  • Input to infrastructure solution frameworks and patterns with awareness of external markets and suppliers to deliver best value for money and service.
  • Establish clear root cause for incidents impacting the Infrastructure CoE deliverables and address these issues.
  • Work with 3rd‑party supplier build teams, development and test environment leads to ensure solutions implemented across the Bank project portfolio are compliant to design.
  • Design product integration with existing / new solutions in collaboration with 3rd parties.
  • Act as a technical escalation point and convene troubleshooting teams to ensure rapid identification and resolution of infrastructure issues.
  • Provide design inputs to areas of expertise such as Mainframe, Networks, Wintel, Database or Connect:

    Direct.
  • Produce and assure design patterns.
  • Produce and assure Infrastructure Roadmaps.
  • Provide technical escalation point for production services and during build phase of new production services.
Key Skills / Knowledge / Experience
  • Extensive experience in VMware platforms and infrastructure solutions, networking environments & firewall knowledge.
  • Extensive expertise in leading infrastructure solution, design and process improvement activities within an IT operational environment resulting in improved efficiency, performance and financial benefit.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills for dealing with internal management and teams, liaising with business partners and customers and external IT service providers.
  • Excellent technical authoring skills.
