Materials Controller job in Wrexham. A manufacturing business is hiring a Materials Controller on £30,000–£35,000 to own stock control, MRP buying and supplier performance.

THE ROLE
Why this Materials Controller role You will run the planning cycle end to end: forecast demand, action MRP, raise POs, chase suppliers and keep inventory turning. You will work across Sales, Operations, Manufacturing, Finance and Procurement, and you will speak up early when supply is at risk.
This is not a reactive stores job. It is a Materials Controller / inventory planner position with real ownership of stock levels, lead times and continuity of supply.
 
Set and hold stock levels that meet customer demand without building excess inventory
Measure inventory against stock-turn targets and act on the gaps
Review MRP recommendations in the ERP system and convert them into clean buying plans
Use sales forecasts, order books and history to decide what to buy and when
Keep ERP planning parameters and supplier lead times accurate
Raise, track and close purchase orders to process
Manage supplier delivery performance and recover late shipments
Feed S&OP with a clear picture of supply versus demand
Flag shortages, capacity issues and recovery plans before they hit the shop floor
Support new product introductions with material availability plans
Improve planning routines, supplier scorecards and ERP use.  YOU
 
Proven experience as a Materials Controller, Materials Planner, Inventory Controller, Inventory Planner or in a purchasing / supply chain role
Day-to-day use of ERP and MRP
Strong Excel and the ability to interrogate demand and stock data
Working knowledge of stock management and supplier OTIF
Clear, calm communication when supply is tight  Useful
 
Sage X3 or a similar manufacturing ERP  Where you will work Wrexham. Manufacturing and warehousing site, with hybrid and flexible working available for the Materials Controller role
