Commercial Strategy Implementation Lead - Shaping the future of commercial delivery by integrating strategy, capability, and performance to unlock growth and operational excellence.

We’re looking for a passionate Commercial Strategy Implementation Lead to join our Commercial team!

Under the direction of the Head of Commercial Excellence, the Commercial Strategy Implementation Lead is responsible for shaping, driving, and delivering an integrated commercial strategy across the organisation, ensuring key milestones are achieved to support both operational delivery and business growth. The role requires a flexible and results-driven approach to managing a portfolio of projects, sharing insights and lessons learned across the wider business.

It enables Commercial Excellence to progress by expanding and accelerating the rollout of key elements of the Commercial Excellence Framework across both onshore and offshore delivery teams.

This role is based out of our Warwick office; we’d prefer you to be there at least two days per week, though you are welcome to be in the office more often if that works best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that could help make this job work for you.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and own end-to-end implementation of strategic Commercial Excellence initiatives, ensuring alignment to enterprise priorities and delivery of measurable business value.
  • Translate strategic initiatives into clear execution roadmaps and performance tracking, ensuring delivery against key milestones and outcomes.
  • Identify, shape and deliver high-impact commercial improvement opportunities using data, insight and industry best practice.
  • Act as a senior integrator across functions, driving alignment and collaboration to deliver complex, cross-business commercial initiatives.
  • Lead on providing clear evidence-based recommendations to senior leadership, influencing decision making and driving adoption across Strategic Infrastructure.
  • Lead the embedding of commercial standards, tools, controls and ways of working to strengthen capability and consistency.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and performance excellence across the commercial function.
  • Communicate initiatives with impact, influencing and aligning stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Capture and scale learning across programmes to ensure sustainable, repeatable improvement and organisational maturity.
What You'll Have
  • Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline (economics/law/business/engineering or similar).
  • UK Drivers Licence.
  • Significant experience operating at a senior level within a commercial, infrastructure, or capital delivery environment.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale strategy implementation or business transformation in a complex, matrix organisation.
  • Strong understanding of commercial lifecycle management across major capital programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional strategic initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in change and transformation leadership.
  • Strong programme and project delivery capability.
  • Analytical, insight-driven decision making.
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments.

At National Grid, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace for everyone. If you’re excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don’t match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right person for this or another role.

What You'll Get

Up to £76,000 dependent on experience. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 15% (maximum 30%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving.
